Drew Primary School

SChool Uniform & P.E. Kit Information

Drew Primary School uniform colours are navy, grey and white.

Our policy is based on the notion that school uniform:

  • promotes a sense of pride in the school;
  • engenders a sense of community and belonging towards the school;
  • is practical and smart;
  • identifies the children with the school;
  • prevents children from coming to school in fashion clothes that could be distracting in class;
  • makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance;
  • is regarded as suitable wear for school and good value for money by most parents;
  • is designed with health and safety in mind.

The Role of Parents:

We ask all parents who send their children to Drew support our uniform policy.

We believe that parents have a duty to send their children to school correctly dressed and ready for their daily schoolwork.

Responsibilities of parents are to ensure that their child:

  • has the correct uniform;
  • has their name clearly marked on their uniform;
  • ensure that the uniform is clean and in good repair.

If any parent would like the school to modify the uniform policy, they should make representation, in the first instance, to the Headteacher. The school welcomes children from all backgrounds and faith communities. If there are serious reasons, for example on religious grounds, why parents want their child to wear clothes that differ from the school uniform, the school will look sympathetically at such requests.

Please see the prices of our school uniform available from Ian Howard Schoolwear.

Our school uniform consists of:

Winter

Grey pinafore dress or skirt or trousers

White polo top with collar (with school logo)

Navy blue sweatshirt (with school logo) or navy blue cardigan

Black school shoes with no distinguishing colours or marks

The school wants all children to grow into healthy adults. We believe that it is dangerous for children to wear open toe shoes and boots or shoes that have platform soles or high heels, so we do not allow children to wear such shoes in our school.

Grey or white socks or grey tights

Hair ribbons (if worn) should be navy blue

Head scarves (if worn) should be navy blue

Navy blue fleece (with school logo)

Summer

Blue and white checked dress

 Grey shorts can also be worn

P.E. Kit:

Children are expected to wear their P.E. kit into school on the day(s) of their P.E. lesson. Please note - no logos (Nike, Adidas etc) are to be on any item of clothing.

The P.E. kit is the same for both boys and girls, it consists of:

White t-shirt

(This shirt needs to be different to the shirt that they wear to school every day).

Navy blue jumper

Navy blue shorts or jogging bottoms

Trainers

Trainers are to be worn which support the children’s feet during exercise.

Please note: Converse are not trainers for exercise.

Jewellery:

On health and safety grounds we do not allow children to wear jewellery including earrings in our school.

The exception to this is a wristwatch. We ask the children to remove this during P.E., games and swimming to prevent them from causing injury to themselves and/or others.

Makeup and False Nails:

The school does not permit children to wear makeup or false nails (either temporary stick on or acrylic/gel type). False nails are a health and safety issue both to the child wearing them and other children in school and could cause injury to both.
