Drew Primary School

SChool Uniform & P.E. Kit Information

Drew Primary School uniform colours are navy, grey and white.

Our policy is based on the notion that school uniform:

  • promotes a sense of pride in the school
  • engenders a sense of community and belonging towards the school
  • is practical and smart
  • identifies the children with the school
  • prevents children from coming to school in fashion clothes that could be distracting in class
  • makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance
  • is regarded as suitable wear for school and good value for money by most parents
  • is designed with health and safety in mind.

The Role of Parents:

We ask all parents who send their children to Drew support our uniform policy. We strongly advise that all uniform is marked clearly with your child’s name. This helps us return items of lost property to their owner quickly.

If any parent would like the school to modify the uniform policy, they should make representation, in the first instance, to the Head Teacher. The school welcomes children from all backgrounds and faith communities. If there are serious reasons, for example on religious grounds, why parents want their child to wear clothes that differ from the school uniform, the school will look sympathetically at such requests.

Please see the prices of our school uniform available from Ian Howard Schoolwear.

Our school uniform consists of:

Winter

Grey pinafore dress or skirt or trousers

White polo top with collar (with or without school logo)

Navy blue sweatshirt (with or without school logo) or navy blue cardigan

Black school shoes with no distinguishing colours or marks

Open toe shoes and boots, shoes that have platform soles or high heels, or shoes such as Crocs that do not fasten tightly at the back are not permitted. If your child is wearing shoes that are not deemed suitable, we will call you and ask for replacements so that your child can play freely and safely during lunch and playtimes.

Grey or white socks or grey tights

Hair ribbons (if worn) should be navy blue

Head scarves (if worn) should be navy blue

Navy blue fleece (with or without school logo)

Summer

Blue and white checked dress

Grey shorts can also be worn

P.E. Kit:

Children are expected to wear their P.E. kit into school on the day(s) of their P.E. lesson. Please note - no logos (Nike, Adidas etc) are to be on any item of clothing.

The P.E. kit is the same for both boys and girls, it consists of:

White t-shirt

(This shirt needs to be different to the shirt that they wear to school every day).

Navy blue jumper

Navy blue shorts or jogging bottoms

Trainers

Trainers are to be worn which support the children’s feet during exercise.

Please note: Converse are not trainers for exercise.

Jewellery:

On health and safety grounds we do not allow children to wear jewellery apart from small stud earrings in our school.

Pupils can wear a wristwatch but this must be removed during P.E. Smartwatches are not allowed.

Makeup and False Nails:

The school does not permit children to wear makeup or false nails (either temporary stick on or acrylic/gel type). False nails are a health and safety issue both to the child wearing them and other children in school and could cause injury to both.
