Update 11.05.2020

Last night you will have heard the Prime Minister state that primary schools could reopen for children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 from the 1st June:          https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-52609507

Further details will be released by the government today.

In the meantime we wanted to remind you that:

  1. There is no change to the current arrangements, where we are open as a last resort for emergency childcare for key worker families and vulnerable children only.

  2. As soon as further details are released, we will work through how this may work for our school. We will be writing to you again shortly when we have further information to share.

The health, safety and wellbeing of our children, families and staff is our paramount concern.

We would like to categorically reassure you that the decisions we make in the coming weeks will be guided by this primary consideration.

Learning@home is now live on year group pages, Please click here to access or select your year group from the Quick Links on the left. These will continue to be updated until we return to school. Keep coming back to see if you have another challenge.

New School Starters September 2020.

Due to the current situation, we are unfortunately unable to offer any further information on arrangements for the new intake. You will shortly be receiving correspondence from us, but in the meantime, we hope you find our website useful. We kindly ask that you do not phone the school at this time, as we are unable to answer any queries.

We look forward to meeting you soon.

Update from Newham

Please keep checking here for information from the council on how they are supporting families, especially the most vulnerable. They are aware that some families are struggling with regards accessing certain items and the Council are putting in place distribution hubs in East Ham and Manor Park. More information can be found at www.newham.gov.uk

Our Provision

We are open for the children of Key Workers where emergency childcare is needed. Our key message is that if it is at all possible for children to be at home, then they should be. Please email info@drew.lihtrust.uk if you need support with childcare and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Support for Pupils with Free School Meals

Families eligible for Free School Meals should now have received a message from 'Edenred', with instructions for how to access their digital supermarket voucher.  If you are not eligible for Free School Meals but require support, please visit the Newham Foodbank website for further information.

More information about how to apply for free school meals with Newham council can be found here.

Supporting your child’s learning

Our pupils love learning and we’d love to help you to find ways of keeping your children interested and engaged over the next few weeks. We do not want you to feel that our offer is placing an additional burden on your family. Please do what you can when you can, but concentrate first on making sure that your family is safe and happy.

We will regularly be updating our websites with ideas and projects which you can encourage your children to do at home, but you should feel under no obligation to complete any of them within a particular time period. We are aware that you are parents and not educators and that you may well be overwhelmed by the prospect of supporting your child’s learning over the next few weeks. We aim to be there for you and hope to develop ways for you to receive help and guidance from teachers from our school and across the Learning in Harmony Trust.

Thank you for your Support
